Alexander Melnikov is a renowned Russian pianist celebrated for his profound musicianship and versatile repertoire spanning Baroque to contemporary music. Born in Moscow in 1973, Melnikov studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Lev Naumov before further refining his artistry with Dmitri Bashkirov at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid. His career is distinguished by a rare combination of solo performances, chamber music collaborations, and historically informed interpretations on fortepiano.

Melnikov’s playing is characterized by its expressive clarity, technical precision, and deep stylistic understanding. He has gained international acclaim for his interpretations of composers such as Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, and Mozart, as well as his commitment to lesser-known works and contemporary compositions. Notably, he often performs with violinist Isabelle Faust and cellist Steven Isserlis, forming one of the most celebrated chamber ensembles today.
