Teatro Albéniz, located on Calle de San Leonardo, opened in 1925. Originally conceived as a cinema, it was designed by architects José Espeliú and Manuel Cobián and built by Modesto López Otero. The building’s architectural style blends elements of Art Deco and Spanish Baroque revival. While initially serving as a cinema showcasing silent films accompanied by live music, it later transitioned to a variety theatre hosting diverse performances including zarzuela (Spanish lyric-dramatic genre), operetta, and musical comedies.
