Experience Zachary Wilder live on August 13th
Zachary Wilder is a contemporary American composer and harpsichordist whose work frequently explores the intersection of early music performance practice and modern compositional techniques. His compositions often feature extended techniques for historical instruments, microtonality, and a deliberate blurring of boundaries between improvisation and notation. He is known for a distinctive sound world that is both rigorously constructed and deeply expressive, drawing connections between Baroque aesthetics and minimalist sensibilities.
The concert will take place at Drottningholm Slottsteater, a UNESCO World Heritage site located on the island of Lovön in Stockholm. Built between 1762-1770 by Queen Lovisa Ulrika, it is considered one of the best-preserved 18th-century theatre buildings in Europe. Uniquely, the theatre was designed as a private entertainment venue for the royal court and retains many of its original features including stage machinery powered by water, original painted décor, and acoustic properties largely unchanged since its opening.
Throughout its history, Drottningholm Slottsteater has hosted performances of opera, drama, ballet, and concerts.
