Experience Zachary Wilder live on August 9th
Zachary Wilder is a contemporary American composer and harpsichordist known for his minimalist and often microtonal compositions. His work frequently explores the intersection of historical performance practice—particularly that of the Baroque era—with modern sensibilities and extended techniques. Wilder’s music is characterized by delicate textures, sustained tones, and a focus on harmonic ambiguity, often employing just intonation systems. He has released several albums on the Room40 label and performs internationally as a soloist and with various ensembles.
The concert will take place at Drottningholm Slottsteater, a UNESCO World Heritage site located on the island of Lovön in Stockholm, Sweden. Originally constructed in 1766 on commission from Queen Louisa Ulrika, the theatre is remarkably well-preserved and remains one of the oldest working theatres in Europe. It is notable for its original stage machinery, acoustic design, and intimate scale – seating approximately 90 audience members.
Drottningholm Slottsteater was designed to replicate the aesthetic of Italian opera houses popular during the 18th century. Throughout its history, it has been used for court performances, later falling into disuse before being meticulously restored in the early 20th century.
