Experience Zachary Wilder live on August 7th
Zachary Wilder is a contemporary American composer and performer known for his vocal music, often described as blending elements of baroque counterpoint, minimalist repetition, and spectral harmonies. His compositions frequently feature extended vocal techniques and explore the expressive potential of the human voice in unconventional ways. He often performs solo, utilizing live looping and processing to create layered sonic textures.
The performance on August 7th, 2026 will take place at Drottningholm Slottsteater, a UNESCO World Heritage site located on the island of Lovön in Stockholm, Sweden. Originally constructed in 1766 under the direction of Queen Lovisa Ulrika, it is considered one of the best-preserved examples of an 18th-century rococo theatre. Uniquely, the theatre was built as a private entertainment venue for the royal court and continued operating largely unchanged for over two centuries with original stage machinery still in use today.
Its intimate scale and acoustic properties make it particularly suited to chamber music and vocal performances. The theatre’s historical significance lies not only in its architectural beauty but also in its role as a continuous performance space – unlike many historic theatres converted to other uses – maintaining its original function throughout its history.
