Experience Zachary Wilder live on August 3rd
Zachary Wilder is a contemporary American composer and harpsichordist whose work often explores the intersection of early music performance practice and experimental sound worlds. His compositions frequently incorporate microtonality, just intonation, and extended techniques for both historical and modern instruments, resulting in a sound that is both historically informed and strikingly original. He is known for performances that blur the lines between improvisation and composition.
The concert on August 3rd, 2026, will take place at Drottningholm Slottsteater, a UNESCO World Heritage site located on the island of Lovön in Stockholm, Sweden. Originally constructed in 1766 under the direction of Queen Lovisa Ulrika, it is considered one of the best-preserved rococo theatres in Europe. Uniquely, it was designed as a private theatre for the royal family and maintained its original mechanism – including stage machinery, costumes and décor – largely unchanged for over two centuries. Performances ceased in 1792 but were revived in 1922 with a focus on staging operas as they would have been presented during the reign of Gustav III, utilizing original performance practices.
