Experience Zachary Wilder live on August 1st
Zachary Wilder is an American-Swedish composer and performer known for his vocal music, often described as blending elements of baroque counterpoint, spectralism, and extended vocal techniques. His compositions frequently explore the human voice as a primary instrument, pushing its boundaries through microtonality and unconventional phrasing, while maintaining a connection to historical performance practice. He often incorporates texts from various sources, including poetry and religious writings.
The concert will take place at Drottningholm Slottsteater, a UNESCO World Heritage site located on the island of Lovön in Stockholm. Originally constructed in 1766 on the orders of Queen Louisa Ulrika, it is considered one of the best-preserved rococo theatres in Europe. The theatre was designed by Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz and retains much of its original architectural detail and machinery, including elaborate stage sets and flying apparatuses still in working order.
Throughout its history, Drottningholm Slottsteater served as a private royal theatre before opening to the public in 1922. It continues to function as a performing arts venue specializing in opera, plays and concerts staged with historically informed performance practices whenever possible.
