Experience Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra live on March 19th
The Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre on March 19, 2027. The orchestra, founded in 1953, is known for its broad repertoire encompassing standard classical works alongside contemporary compositions, and frequently collaborates with internationally renowned soloists. While maintaining a core commitment to the traditional orchestral sound, the ensemble also explores interpretations reflecting modern musical sensibilities.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, opened in 1993, serves as a major performing arts center in Tokyo. Designed by architect Takamitsu Katoh, it features three halls: the Concert Hall, the Opera Hall and the Playhouse. The Concert Hall, where the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra will perform, is specifically designed for symphonic music with attention to acoustics and seating arrangements to optimize the listening experience. The theatre itself was conceived as part of a larger urban redevelopment project aiming to create a cultural hub within Shinjuku. It hosts a diverse range of performances including opera, ballet, theatre and concerts throughout the year and is managed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture.
