Wynton Marsalis will perform at the SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco on September 22, 2026. Marsalis is a trumpeter, composer, and educator primarily recognized for his mastery of and advocacy for jazz music, particularly within the traditions of acoustic jazz, swing, and bebop. His work frequently incorporates elements of blues, funk, and classical music, demonstrating a broad musical vocabulary while consistently returning to core jazz principles. He has received numerous accolades including Pulitzer Prize for Music in 1997 for his oratorio *Blood on the Fields*.

The SFJAZZ Center, which opened in 2013, serves as a leading venue dedicated to jazz performance, education, and preservation. Located in the Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco, it was designed by Mark Cavagnero Associates with acoustics as a central focus. The Center houses the Robert N. Miner Auditorium – a 350-seat performance space – as well as rehearsal spaces, classrooms, and offices for the SFJAZZ organization.

SFJAZZ itself was founded in 1972 as a grassroots community organization and has grown into a nationally recognized presenting organization.
