The Guthrie Center is a historic performance venue located in Great Barrington. Originally constructed in 1926 as a vaudeville house and cinema named the Mahaiwe Theatre, it underwent periods of disuse before being purchased and renovated by musician Arlo Guthrie in 1996. Guthrie envisioned it as a multi-purpose arts center dedicated to supporting diverse artistic expression and community engagement. The building retains much of its original Art Deco architecture while functioning as a venue for concerts, film screenings, lectures, and other events.
