Eberbach Abbey (Kloster Eberbach) is a former Cistercian monastery situated in the Rheingau wine region. Founded in 1136, it flourished as a significant winemaking centre throughout the medieval period and continues to be an active winery today. The abbey’s Romanesque and Gothic architecture includes a particularly renowned refectory, frequently used for concerts due to its exceptional acoustics.

Following secularization in 1803, the abbey transitioned through various uses including a school and agricultural college before being restored in the 20th century. It gained international recognition as a filming location for scenes in the 1986 film *The Name of the Rose*. The site is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley.
