Classical Concerts in Verbier

Experience Verbier Festival Orchestra live on August 1st

The Verbier Festival Orchestra will perform at the Salle des Combins in Verbier, Switzerland on August 1st, 2026. The orchestra is renowned for its performances of both standard orchestral repertoire and lesser-known works, frequently showcasing emerging talents alongside established artists. Its musical style is generally characterized by a vibrant and flexible approach, prioritizing dynamic interpretations and a collaborative spirit amongst its members – often comprised of young professional musicians selected from around the world for each festival edition.

Salle des Combins is the primary concert venue for the Verbier Festival. Opened in 1998, it was specifically designed to provide exceptional acoustics for orchestral music within an intimate setting. The hall’s design, overseen by acoustician Russell Johnson, utilizes a vineyard-style layout – seating arranged around the stage rather than in traditional tiers – to enhance sound diffusion and proximity between performers and audience. Constructed largely from wood, the hall aims to create a warm and resonant environment. Its capacity is approximately 880 seats. The building also houses rehearsal spaces and administrative offices related to the festival’s operations, becoming a central hub during the annual event.
