Tortoise, the Chicago-based instrumental band, is scheduled to perform at The Button Factory in Dublin, Ireland on November 3rd, 2026. The group is recognized as pioneers of post-rock, blending elements of jazz, dub, electronica, and ambient music into complex, largely non-vocal compositions. Formed in 1990, Tortoise gained prominence for their innovative use of unconventional instrumentation and extended song structures, influencing numerous artists across various genres. The Button Factory itself has a history rooted in Dublin’s industrial past. Originally built in the 1890s as a manufacturing facility for shoes – specifically buttons for boots – it operated as such for nearly a century.
