Experience Tony Succar live on October 18th
Tony Succar is scheduled to perform at the Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C. on October 18, 2026. Succar is a Peruvian-American musician, composer, and producer known for his vibrant and energetic blend of Latin music, particularly salsa, with influences from pop, jazz, and Afro-Caribbean rhythms. He gained international recognition for his project “Viva Perú,” a series of arrangements of popular songs reimagined in a salsa style featuring diverse instrumentalists and vocalists. His work frequently incorporates large ensemble arrangements and emphasizes powerful horn sections and dynamic percussion.
The Howard Theatre holds significant cultural importance as a historic performing arts venue. Originally opening in 1910, it quickly became a prominent entertainment destination for both Black and white audiences during the era of racial segregation – though with segregated seating initially. Known as “The Jewel of T Street,” it hosted many renowned performers including Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Lena Horne. After falling into disrepair, the theatre underwent a substantial restoration completed in 2012 and reopened as a fully functioning performance space dedicated to showcasing diverse artistic expressions while preserving its legacy.
