Spanish Harlem Orchestra will perform at the George Mason University Center for the Arts in Fairfax, Virginia on December 5, 2026. The orchestra is recognized for its dedication to preserving and promoting the vibrant tradition of salsa dura – a hard-driving, rhythmically complex style of salsa rooted in the sounds of 1970s New York City. Their music features a large ensemble including multiple percussionists, a robust horn section, and dynamic vocalists, delivering an energetic and authentic interpretation of classic salsa arrangements alongside original compositions.

The George Mason University Center for the Arts, which opened in 1997, serves as a significant cultural hub for Northern Virginia and the wider metropolitan Washington D.C. area. The Center hosts a diverse range of performances encompassing music, dance, theater, and visual arts. Its primary venues include the Concert Hall—where Spanish Harlem Orchestra is scheduled to appear—and the Theater. The Center aims to provide access to high-quality arts experiences while also supporting educational initiatives through partnerships with George Mason University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts.
