Monsieur Periné is a Colombian band known for its unique blend of musical styles, often described as neo-chanson, gypsy jazz, and Latin alternative. Their sound incorporates elements of French chanson, swing, bossa nova, and traditional Colombian rhythms, delivered with sophisticated arrangements and Catalina García’s distinctive vocals. The group formed in Bogotá in 2012 and has gained international recognition for their energetic live performances and critically acclaimed albums.
The Lincoln Theatre in Washington, D.C., holds a significant place in the city’s cultural history. Originally built as a streetcar barn in 1922, it was transformed into a movie palace during the era of segregation, becoming a prominent venue for African American performers when other theaters were closed to them. Artists like Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday graced its stage.
Following a period of decline and closure, the Lincoln Theatre underwent extensive renovations completed in 1993. It now operates as a performing arts center hosting a diverse range of events including concerts, theatrical productions, film screenings and community programs.
