Little Island is a public park in the Hudson River, located at Pier 55 in Manhattan, New York City. Opened in May 2021 after years of planning and construction, the park’s design features a unique undulating landscape created by Heatherwick Studio. Built on tulip-shaped concrete piles driven into the riverbed, it was initially conceived as a performance venue but evolved into a more broadly accessible public space offering green areas, walking paths and an amphitheater. The project faced significant financial hurdles during its development led by Barry Diller and Diane von Furstenberg's foundation. It serves as a distinctive architectural landmark and offers free public programming including performances and art installations.
