Experience The New Symphony Orchestra Tokyo live on October 4th
The New Symphony Orchestra Tokyo will perform at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre on October 4, 2026. Established in 1986, The New Symphony Orchestra Tokyo is recognized for its versatile repertoire encompassing both standard orchestral works and contemporary compositions, with a particular focus on promoting Japanese composers and fostering musical exchange internationally. The orchestra frequently collaborates with both established and emerging soloists.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, opened in 1993, is a significant cultural venue in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district. Designed by architect Takahiko Yamazaki, the complex houses three performance spaces: the Concert Hall, the Opera House, and the Playhouse. It was conceived as a modern theatre prioritizing acoustics and sightlines, aiming to provide an optimal environment for a wide range of performing arts.
The Concert Hall, where The New Symphony Orchestra Tokyo will perform, is specifically designed for orchestral music and chamber performances. Its construction incorporated advanced sound engineering techniques to achieve clarity and resonance. The theatre functions as a central hub for both domestic and international artistic presentations, hosting opera, ballet, theatre, and musical performances alongside orchestral concerts. It is operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture.
