Experience The Bad Plus live on October 9th
The Bad Plus will perform at the Jazz Kitchen in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 9, 2026. The Bad Plus is a jazz trio known for its unconventional approach to the genre, blending elements of post-bop, avant-garde, and rock influences. Formed in Minneapolis in 2000, the group initially gained recognition for their deconstructed interpretations of popular songs by artists like Nirvana and Blondie alongside original compositions. Their instrumentation consists of piano, bass, and drums, and they are characterized by energetic performances and a distinctive harmonic language.
The Jazz Kitchen has been a prominent Indianapolis music venue since its establishment in 1994. Originally founded by David Baker, an accomplished jazz musician and educator at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), the venue was intended to provide a dedicated space for jazz performance and education. Over time, its programming expanded to include a variety of genres – soul, blues, funk – while maintaining a strong commitment to jazz. The venue relocated in 2018 and currently operates as a supper club offering dining alongside live music presentations. It continues to host both local and nationally recognized artists.
