The Mousetrap in Indianapolis has operated as a listening room and intimate performance venue since 1972. Founded by Ed Williams, it initially focused on folk and bluegrass music, quickly becoming a central hub for acoustic performers in the Midwest. Over the decades, the Mousetrap broadened its musical scope to include jazz, blues, and various other genres while maintaining its commitment to showcasing high-quality musicianship in a relaxed setting. The venue is noted for its attentive audience and focus on the performance itself rather than elaborate production elements. It’s situated within a residential neighborhood and maintains a relatively small capacity, fostering a close connection between artists and listeners. The space has hosted numerous nationally touring acts alongside regional talent throughout its history.
