Experience The Bad Plus live on August 2nd
The Bad Plus will perform at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island on August 2nd, 2026. The Bad Plus is a jazz trio known for its unconventional approach to the genre, incorporating elements of rock, pop, and avant-garde music into their interpretations of both original compositions and covers of popular songs. Formed in 1990, the group—currently consisting of pianist Ethan Iverson, bassist Reid Anderson, and drummer Dave King—is recognized for its energetic performances and deconstructive yet respectful treatment of source material.
Fort Adams State Park is a significant historical site. Construction began in 1852 and continued for decades, ultimately becoming one of the largest coastal fortifications in the United States. Designed as part of the Third System of coastal defense, it never saw active combat but served as an important military installation through both World War I and World War II. Today, the park offers public access to explore its granite fortifications, tunnels and sweeping views of Narragansett Bay. It frequently hosts large-scale events and festivals due to its expansive grounds and waterfront location. The fort is a National Historic Landmark recognized for its architectural and military significance.
