Kenny G, born Kenny Gorelick, is widely recognized as a prominent figure in smooth jazz, a genre characterized by its instrumental focus, melodic emphasis, and incorporation of elements from R&B, pop, and adult contemporary music. He gained significant popularity throughout the 1980s and 1990s for his distinctive soprano saxophone playing and commercially successful albums. His style often features breathy tones, lyrical phrasing, and a generally relaxed atmosphere.
The Historic Park Theatre & Event Center in Cranston, Rhode Island, originally opened in 1922 as a single-screen movie house named the Park Cinema. Throughout its history, it served primarily as a local entertainment venue for film screenings. Facing decline in the late 20th century, the theatre underwent extensive renovations beginning in 2016. These renovations aimed to restore many of its original architectural features while updating it to function as a multi-purpose event space.
Today, the venue hosts a variety of performances including concerts, theatrical productions, comedy shows and private events. It retains aspects of its historic design including ornate detailing and a proscenium arch stage.
