The Bad Plus will perform at the Dakota Jazz Club & Restaurant in Minneapolis, Minnesota on December 28, 2026. The Bad Plus is a jazz trio known for their unconventional approach to the genre, incorporating elements of rock, pop, and avant-garde music into their interpretations of both original compositions and covers of popular songs. Formed in 1990, the group originally comprised Ethan Iverson (piano), Reid Anderson (bass), and David King (drums); personnel has shifted over time but maintains a similar stylistic core. Their performances are characterized by energetic improvisation, dynamic interplay, and a willingness to deconstruct traditional jazz structures.

Originally founded by Jim Pettersen, the club has hosted numerous internationally renowned musicians throughout its history and continues to be a significant cultural hub within the city's music scene. The venue underwent a major renovation and expansion in 2022 following a fire but has since reopened maintaining its commitment to live musical performance.
