Symphony Hall opened in 1991 and is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, consistently ranked among the finest concert halls globally. Designed by Renton, Eggert & Associates, the hall prioritised natural reverberation; it lacks conventional echo chambers relying instead on the building's volume and carefully selected materials to create its sound. The hall is home to the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) and hosts a diverse range of performances including classical music, jazz, rock, pop, and world music events.

Its construction was partially funded by donations from individuals and corporations within the Birmingham area, reflecting a strong community investment in the arts. The hall’s auditorium seats approximately 2,200 people and features a distinctive curved roof structure. It has hosted numerous internationally acclaimed artists across various genres since its inauguration.
