Buckley is a British conductor and arranger known for his work blending jazz orchestra with electronic music, often incorporating elements of funk, soul, and contemporary dance music. He frequently collaborates with artists across genres, reimagining their work for large ensemble arrangements and is recognised for his innovative approach to orchestral performance. His projects often involve live sampling and improvisation alongside meticulously scored compositions.

Symphy Hall itself opened in 1991 and is Birmingham’s primary concert venue. Designed by the Renton, Eggert & Associates architectural practice, it is renowned for its exceptional acoustics – consistently ranked among the best in Europe – achieved through specific shoe box design and adjustable reverberation chambers. The hall hosts a diverse range of performances including classical music concerts from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (of which it is the home), jazz, rock, pop, world music and ballet. It has a capacity of approximately 2,200 seats and is situated within Centenary Square in the city centre. The hall regularly welcomes internationally acclaimed performers and ensembles.
