The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra will perform at Berwaldhallen in Stockholm on October 15, 2026. The orchestra is recognized internationally for its broad repertoire, encompassing works from the Baroque period through contemporary compositions. Historically, the ensemble has been particularly noted for its interpretations of late-Romantic and 20th-century music, often commissioning new works and fostering relationships with prominent contemporary composers. Their sound is generally described as possessing a rich tonal quality and a commitment to clarity and precision.
Berwaldhallen, inaugurated in 1979, is the concert hall dedicated to the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Designed by architect Erik Kråkström, it’s renowned for its exceptional acoustics, achieved through careful attention to shape and materials – notably the use of spruce wood in its construction. The hall was specifically built to facilitate high-quality radio broadcasting alongside live performance. It’s considered one of Sweden’s premier concert venues and regularly hosts both orchestral concerts and recordings. The building's design intentionally avoids grand ornamentation, prioritizing functionality and acoustic excellence over visual spectacle. It holds approximately 1,100 seats.
