Steven Bernstein will perform at the SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco on July 17, 2026. Bernstein is a trumpeter, composer, and arranger known for his eclectic musical style often described as “multiphonic” or blending jazz with elements of klezmer, blues, and rock. He frequently incorporates historical musical references, particularly from the early 20th century, into his compositions. Bernstein has led several groups including Spanish Fly and the Hot 97 Orchestra, and has collaborated extensively with artists across diverse genres.

The SFJAZZ Center, which opened in 2013, is a leading jazz performance venue and education center. It is dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and performance of jazz music. The center houses the Robert N. Miner Auditorium, an 800-seat concert hall designed with acoustics specifically tailored for jazz; a smaller 120-seat venue called Joe Henderson Lab; rehearsal spaces; and classrooms used for educational programs. SFJAZZ itself is a non-profit organization founded in 1972 that presents hundreds of performances annually and offers extensive educational outreach initiatives throughout the Bay Area.
