Stereolab is scheduled to perform at Muncaster Castle in Barrow-in-Furness, United Kingdom on August 28, 2026. The band, formed in London in 1990, is known for its eclectic musical style which blends elements of krautrock, lounge music, 1960s French pop, and experimental electronic sounds. Their compositions frequently incorporate unconventional instrumentation and a focus on repetitive, hypnotic rhythms alongside sophisticated arrangements. Throughout their career, Stereolab released albums on labels including Too Pure and Warp Records, gaining a dedicated international following. The group disbanded in 2009 but reformed in 2019 for select performances and have since announced further touring activity.

Muncaster Castle has a documented history stretching back at least 900 years. Originally a defensive stronghold built by the Normans, the castle remained the home of the Penningtons for over 800 years. It is situated within a 75-acre garden and parkland setting overlooking the Esk estuary in Cumbria. The castle is reputedly one of the most haunted locations in England with numerous reported paranormal occurrences contributing to its atmospheric character.
