S A V O Y • H O T E L • Blackpool is a long-established venue located on the Blackpool Promenade. Originally opening in 1930 as a luxury hotel designed by architects Silcock & Tweedale, it quickly became renowned for its ballroom which hosted numerous prominent dance bands and performers throughout the mid-20th century’s heyday of British ballroom dancing. The venue underwent periods of refurbishment and changing ownership over the years, maintaining its function as a hotel alongside its entertainment spaces. It continues to host live music events and functions, retaining much of its art deco architectural detailing. The Savoy has been noted for its association with the Northern Soul scene in the 1970s and 80s, hosting all-nighters that drew large crowds.
