SPELLLING, the musical project of Chrystia Cabral, will be performing at the Knockdown Center in Maspeth, Queens, on August 13, 2026. SPELLLING’s music is often described as experimental pop, blending elements of art-pop, noise, and psychedelic soul. Her compositions frequently incorporate complex vocal arrangements, layered instrumentation including synthesizers and percussion, and a theatrical performance style. Previous albums have explored themes of identity, mythology, and personal transformation.

The Knockdown Center is a repurposed industrial building with a history rooted in Maspeth’s manufacturing past. Originally constructed as a door and trim factory in the 1920s, it operated under that function for decades before transitioning into a multi-disciplinary arts venue in 2013. The space is known for its large central hall with high ceilings and exposed brickwork, providing an unconventional setting for concerts, performances, art installations and community events. It has become a notable location within New York City’s independent music and arts scene due to its capacity for large-scale productions and commitment to showcasing diverse artistic expressions. The venue retains much of its original industrial aesthetic contributing to its unique atmosphere.
