Spanish Harlem Orchestra will be performing at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts in Queens, New York on December 18, 2026. The ensemble is recognized for its dedication to preserving and performing traditional salsa dura – a hard-hitting, brass-focused style of salsa originating in the 1970s. Their sound draws heavily from the arrangements of Willie Colón and Héctor Lavoe, emphasizing powerful horn sections, intricate percussion, and passionate vocals. Founded in 2000 by pianist Ricky González, the orchestra aims to recapture the energy and authenticity of classic New York salsa.

The Kupferberg Center for the Arts, located on the campus of Queens College, serves as a performing arts hub for the borough and greater New York City area. Opened in 1965, it comprises several performance spaces including Colden Auditorium, Goldstein Hall, and LeFrak Concert Hall.
