Snowboy, the British acid jazz and drum and bass artist, is scheduled to perform at Union Chapel in London on January 29th, 2027. Snowboy’s music blends live instrumentation with electronic elements, drawing heavily from funk, soul, and jazz traditions – often incorporating improvisation and a distinctive percussive focus stemming from his background as a drummer. He gained prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s as a key figure in the UK’s burgeoning acid jazz scene, releasing albums such as “Only the Jazz” and collaborating with artists like Gilles Peterson.

Union Chapel itself is a Grade I listed architectural landmark originally consecrated in 1878. Situated in Islington, it was designed by James Cubitt and boasts a remarkable Gothic Revival interior. Beyond its religious function as a working chapel within the Congregational Federation, it has long been utilized as a performance venue known for its exceptional acoustics. The building’s unique atmosphere is partly due to its lack of reverberation – resulting from the specific materials used in its construction – which makes it highly sought after by musicians recording or performing acoustic-based music.
