Snarky Puppy is a highly acclaimed instrumental ensemble known for its eclectic and genre-bending music. Often categorized within jazz, their sound incorporates elements of funk, fusion, rock, and world music, characterized by complex harmonies, intricate arrangements, and dynamic improvisation. The group, formed in 2004, operates as a large collective with a rotating lineup of over 40 musicians.

The concert will take place at the Paramount Theatre-Oakland, a historically significant Art Deco landmark originally opened in 1931. Designed by architect Weeks and Day, it was conceived as a lavish movie palace during the Golden Age of Hollywood. The theatre hosted numerous premieres and performances before falling into disrepair in the 1970s.

A comprehensive restoration completed in 1973 revitalized the Paramount Theatre, and it now functions as a performing arts venue hosting a diverse range of events including concerts, comedy shows, dance performances and classic film screenings. Notable for its opulent interior featuring ornate plasterwork and a grand chandelier, the theatre is recognized as one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture remaining in the United States and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
