SML, the musical project led by Swiss composer and multi-instrumentalist Samuel Müller, will perform at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, Netherlands on July 12, 2026. SML’s music blends elements of jazz improvisation with electronic music production and sound design, often incorporating field recordings and exploring textures beyond traditional harmonic structures. The project frequently features a rotating cast of collaborators, resulting in a dynamic and evolving sonic landscape. Previous releases have been described as atmospheric and cinematic, drawing comparisons to artists like Nils Petter Molvær and Bonobo.

The North Sea Jazz Festival is an annual indoor music festival held in Rotterdam, widely regarded as one of the most important jazz festivals globally. Established in 1976, it showcases a diverse range of jazz styles – including mainstream, avant-garde, Latin jazz, and fusion – alongside related genres like soul, funk, hip-hop and electronic music. In 2026, the festival will be held at the Rotterdam Ahoy convention centre for the 49th edition. The festival consistently attracts internationally renowned artists and emerging talent alike, known for its high production quality and immersive atmosphere.
