Experience Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden live on January 18th
Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, one of the world’s oldest and most esteemed orchestras, will perform at the Semperoper Dresden on January 18, 2027. The orchestra is renowned for its rich, warm tonal quality and a historically informed performance practice deeply rooted in the Central European tradition. It maintains a particularly strong connection to the works of Richard Strauss, Carl Maria von Weber, and Richard Wagner, having premiered numerous compositions by these masters. Its sound is often described as possessing both power and subtlety, reflecting a long history of collaboration with leading conductors and composers.
The Semperoper itself holds significant cultural importance. Originally opened in 1841, it was designed by architect Gottfried Semper and rebuilt twice following devastating fires – once in 1860 and again after its destruction during World War II in 1945. The current building, a reconstruction completed in 1985, meticulously replicates the original’s neo-Renaissance style. Beyond its architectural grandeur, the Semperoper is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics and its role as a vital center for operatic and orchestral performances for over 180 years.
