Experience Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden live on November 9th
Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, one of the world’s oldest and most esteemed orchestras, will perform at the Semperoper Dresden on November 9, 2026. The orchestra is renowned for its rich, warm tonal quality and a historically informed performance practice rooted in the traditions of Central European classical music. While capable across the repertoire, it maintains a particularly strong connection to composers like Richard Strauss, Carl Maria von Weber, and Richard Wagner – figures deeply interwoven with Dresden’s musical history.
The Semperoper itself holds significant cultural importance. Originally opened in 1841, it was designed by architect Gottfried Semper and quickly became a symbol of Dresden's artistic life. The original building was destroyed twice – once by fire in 1869 and again during the bombing of Dresden in World War II. Each time, it was meticulously rebuilt based on Semper’s original designs, representing resilience and a commitment to cultural preservation. The current building dates to 1985, faithfully recreating the opulent interiors and exceptional acoustics of its predecessors. It is celebrated not only for its architectural beauty but also for its long association with prominent composers and performers throughout history.
