MOTH Club occupies a former social club building originally established in 1967 by the Tailors’ Benevolent Society as a space for garment workers. Throughout its history it functioned as a members-only venue offering entertainment and social activities. In more recent years, following a period of decline, it was revitalized as an independent music and arts venue, becoming known for its distinctive interior – retaining much of its original 1960s decor including patterned carpets and chandeliers – and its focus on showcasing alternative and underground music. It’s become particularly associated with experimental electronic music, post-punk, and art-pop acts while maintaining a commitment to community engagement.
