The Royal Swedish Orchestra will perform at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm on September 25, 2026. The Royal Swedish Opera, *Kungliga Operan*, opened in its current building in 1898, though its origins date back to 1773 with performances initially held in the Bollhuset. It is Sweden’s national opera company and one of the oldest in Europe. The building itself is a grand example of Italian Renaissance Revival architecture and features significant decorative artwork. Beyond opera and ballet, it functions as a major concert venue, benefitting from excellent acoustics. Throughout its history, the Opera has premiered numerous works by Swedish composers and hosted internationally acclaimed performers. The institution receives state funding but also relies on private donations and sponsorship to support its operations.
