Rodrigo y Gabriela are a Mexican acoustic guitar duo renowned for their energetic and innovative instrumental compositions. Their music blends flamenco, rock, and metal influences, characterized by rapid-fire fingerpicking, percussive techniques on the guitar bodies, and complex rhythmic interplay. Originally busking on the streets of Ireland in the late 1990s, they gained international recognition for their unique sound and dynamic live performances. They primarily perform original works but also incorporate covers reimagined in their distinctive style.

The Mcmenamins Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon has a rich history dating back to 1912. Initially constructed as a ballroom for dancing, it quickly became a prominent venue for various performances including big band music and boxing matches. Notably, its sprung dance floor is a key feature – designed with a unique floating system using horsehair and burlap over springs intended to give dancers the sensation of walking on air. Throughout the 20th century, it experienced periods of decline and revival, eventually being restored by McMenamins in 1997. The venue retains much of its original architectural detail alongside artwork commissioned from local artists and is known for its atmospheric ambiance and historical significance within Portland’s cultural landscape.
