Experience Riccardo Muti live on October 31st
Riccardo Muti will conduct a concert at Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Japan on October 31, 2026. Muti is renowned for his interpretations of Italian opera, particularly works by Verdi and Puccini, and his commitment to historically informed performance practice. His style is generally characterized by clarity, dramatic intensity, and a focus on orchestral detail, often emphasizing the vocal line while maintaining a robust orchestral sound. He frequently champions both standard repertoire and lesser-known works, displaying a broad stylistic range encompassing Baroque, Classical, and contemporary music.
Suntory Hall opened in 1986 and is considered one of the world’s finest concert halls due to its exceptional acoustics. Designed by Yasuhisa Toyota with acoustic consultation from Russell Johnson of Bolt Beranek and Newman, it was specifically engineered to achieve a naturally reverberant sound without being overly echoic. The hall’s “vineyard” seating arrangement – where the audience surrounds the orchestra – contributes to this immersive sonic experience. Suntory Hall regularly hosts leading international orchestras and soloists and is home to the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. It is named after the Suntory beverage company which funded its construction as a contribution to Japanese culture.
