Ravi Coltrane, son of jazz saxophone icon John Coltrane and pianist Alice Coltrane, will perform at Városháza in Budapest on June 27, 2026. His musical style is deeply rooted in post-bop and modal jazz traditions inherited from his parents, yet distinctly his own. Characterized by intensely lyrical saxophone playing, complex harmonic explorations, and a strong spiritual undercurrent, Coltrane’s work often incorporates elements of avant-garde jazz alongside more accessible melodic structures. He frequently leads ensembles featuring both established and emerging musicians.

Városháza – literally “Town Hall” – is a significant historical building in Budapest, located on Kálvin Square (Kálvin tér). Originally constructed in the early 20th century as the headquarters of the city’s municipal administration, it underwent substantial damage during World War II. Rebuilt in a Neo-Renaissance style, it served its original purpose for decades before undergoing renovations to transform portions into a multi-functional cultural space. Today, Városháza hosts a variety of events including concerts, exhibitions and conferences; its main hall is known for its excellent acoustics and ornate architectural details.
