Ravi Coltrane, son of legendary saxophonist John Coltrane, will perform at the Križanke outdoor theatre in Ljubljana, Slovenia on July 7th, 2026. His musical style is rooted in post-bop jazz, often characterized by a searching, intensely melodic improvisation and a distinctive tenor saxophone sound. While deeply influenced by his father’s harmonic explorations and spiritual approach to music, Ravi has developed a unique voice incorporating elements of contemporary jazz and occasionally venturing into modal and avant-garde territories. He frequently leads ensembles featuring both established and emerging musicians.

Križanke is a historically significant open-air theatre complex in Ljubljana, originally built as a monastery in the 13th century. The name “Križanke” translates to “Little Sisters of the Cross,” referencing the former cloister. Throughout its history it served various purposes including housing military barracks and workshops before being repurposed for cultural events in the 1950s. The theatre underwent substantial renovation in the early 2000s led by architect Jože Plečnik who integrated it with the surrounding parkland, creating a popular venue for summer festivals and performances.
