Experience Ravi Coltrane live on March 10th

Ravi Coltrane, son of jazz saxophone legends John and Alice Coltrane, will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on March 10, 2027. His musical style is deeply rooted in post-bop and hard bop traditions, yet incorporates elements of avant-garde jazz, funk, and electronic music. Coltrane is known for his intensely lyrical tenor saxophone playing, characterized by a searching improvisation and a harmonic sophistication influenced by his parents’ work, but distinctly his own. He frequently leads ensembles featuring both acoustic and electric instrumentation.

The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns. Built atop a historic warehouse (the Kaispeicher A) in the HafenCity district, it has quickly become a landmark for Hamburg and a globally recognized concert hall. Its design, by Herzog & de Meuron architects, features a distinctive glass facade built around the existing warehouse structure.

The hall’s primary performance space is the Grand Hall, renowned for its exceptional acoustics designed by Yasuhisa Toyota; however Coltrane's performance location within the building is currently unspecified.
