The Cutting Room, located in Greenwich Village, has a significant history within New York City’s music scene. Originally opened in 1970 by Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell – later famed for Studio 54 – it quickly became a prominent venue for emerging and established artists across genres including rock, jazz, and blues. It hosted performances by Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith, and The Rolling Stones in its early years. After closing in 2006, the venue was renovated and reopened in 2014 retaining its intimate club atmosphere while upgrading its technical capabilities. It continues to function as a performance space and recording studio.
