Protomartyr, a Detroit-based post-punk band, will be performing at the Metro in Chicago on November 19, 2026. Their music is characterized by a stark, minimalist sound featuring driving basslines, angular guitar work, and Joe Casey’s distinctive, often spoken-word vocal delivery. Lyrically, Protomartyr frequently explores themes of urban decay, societal anxieties, and existentialism. The band formed in 2010 and has released several critically acclaimed albums including *Protomartyr* (2012), *The Agent Intellect* (2014), and *Guests Who Can't Eat* (2018).

Metro Chicago opened in 1980 and quickly became a pivotal venue for alternative and independent music. Located in the Wrigleyville neighborhood, it has hosted numerous iconic artists across various genres including new wave, punk rock, hip hop and indie rock.
