Protomartyr is a Detroit-based post-punk band formed in 2010, characterized by its stark, minimalist sound. Their music often features spoken-word vocals delivered by Joe Casey over driving, angular guitar work and a prominent rhythm section. Lyrically, their songs frequently explore themes of urban decay, societal alienation, and existential dread, presented with a detached and often sardonic tone. The band has released several critically acclaimed albums including *Captured in Captivity* (2014) and *Relatives* (2017).

The Majestic Theatre, located on Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Michigan, originally opened in 1919 as a vaudeville house and movie palace. Designed by C. Howard Crane, it’s considered a significant example of atmospheric theatre design. Over its history, the venue transitioned through various uses including a CBS television studio in the 1950s & 60s and periods of disuse and decline.

Extensive renovations were completed in 1983, restoring many of its original architectural details. Today, the Majestic Theatre functions primarily as a live music venue hosting a diverse range of national and local acts.
