Pieces of a Dream is scheduled to perform at Ford Lake Park in Ypsilanti, Michigan on August 7, 2026. The group is recognized for their smooth jazz sound, blending elements of R&B, funk, and pop with instrumental proficiency. Formed in 1981, Pieces of a Dream gained prominence as one of the first self-contained instrumental bands to sign with Elektra Records and have released numerous albums throughout their career, consistently charting on Billboard’s jazz charts.

Ford Lake Park itself encompasses approximately 315 acres within Ypsilanti Township. Originally developed as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project during the Great Depression, it was initially conceived as a recreational area for Ford Motor Company employees – hence the name – though it is now publicly accessible. The park features a 30-acre lake used for swimming, boating and fishing, along with walking trails, picnic areas, and athletic fields. It hosts various community events throughout the year and is maintained by Ypsilanti Township Parks & Recreation. The park’s landscape includes wooded areas and open spaces providing diverse recreational opportunities.
