Paul Lewis will perform a solo piano recital at The Tung Auditorium in Liverpool on May 23, 2027. Lewis is a British pianist internationally recognised for his interpretations of the classical repertoire, particularly the works of Beethoven, Schubert, and Brahms. His playing is often described as possessing intellectual rigour combined with emotional depth, noted for clarity of articulation and a refined touch. He is known for undertaking comprehensive performance cycles of major composers’ sonata works.

The Tung Auditorium opened in 2024 as part of Liverpool Philharmonic Hall’s “Home” redevelopment project. It represents a significant investment in the city’s cultural infrastructure and is designed specifically for chamber music, recitals and smaller orchestral performances. The auditorium’s acoustics were carefully considered during its construction, aiming to provide an intimate and immersive experience for both performers and audience members. It's named following a substantial donation from the Tung family, recognising their philanthropic support of the arts. The space accommodates approximately 400 people and features adaptable configurations to suit diverse programming needs. It aims to enhance Liverpool’s reputation as a centre for musical excellence.
