Paul Agnew is a highly regarded countertenor specializing in Baroque and early classical repertoire, celebrated for his expressive vocal technique and dramatic interpretation. His performances frequently focus on French Baroque composers like Lully and Rameau, but also extend to works by Handel and Purcell, demonstrating a versatility within the historical performance practice movement. He is also known for his work as artistic director of the ensemble Les Arts Florissants, founded by William Christie.

Les Jardins De William Christie : Miroir D'Eau, located in Thiré, France, are a relatively recent addition to the cultural landscape, opening in 2018. Created by conductor William Christie, the gardens are designed around a series of water features – hence “Miroir d’Eau” (Water Mirror) – and offer a unique setting for musical performances. The site aims to be a centre for Baroque music and garden design, reflecting Christie’s passions. The gardens themselves draw inspiration from 17th and 18th-century French formal gardens, integrating architectural elements with lush planting schemes.
