Les Arts Florissants, founded by William Christie in 1979, is renowned for its performances of Baroque and early Classical music. The ensemble specializes in rediscovering and performing rarely heard works from the 17th and 18th centuries, focusing on French opera and sacred music alongside Italian and English composers. Their interpretations are characterized by historically informed performance practice, emphasizing ornamentation, clarity of vocal lines, and a distinctive instrumental sound.

Les Jardins De William Christie : Miroir D'Eau, located in Thiré, France, serves as both the private gardens of William Christie and a public performance space dedicated to Baroque music and garden arts. Established in the early 2000s, the gardens were created on the site of a former medieval moated castle. The “Miroir d’Eau” (Water Mirror) refers to a central reflecting pool designed to visually amplify the surrounding landscape and create a unique acoustic environment for concerts.

The venue hosts an annual festival each summer showcasing Les Arts Florissants and other artists specializing in early music.
